What is Psi Chi?
Psi Chi was founded in 1929 with two main purposes:
- to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship
- to advance the science of psychology.
Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is affiliated with the American Psychological Society. Over 1,100 chapters are in operation around the world, with over 600,000 lifetime members. Distinguished individuals involved in Psi Chi include B.F. Skinner and Albert Bandura, among others. This organization offers over $350,000 in grants and awards each year and seeks to provide an academic environment that fosters creative development

UMCP Chapter Visions and Goals
In order to provide Psi Chi members here at the University of Maryland, College Park with an academic climate that fosters creative development, we intend to provide our members with the opportunities to network and build relationships with fellow psychology majors, fellow Psi Chi members, faculty members, and members of the community. This is achieved through our meetings and community service events that we plan throughout the semester.
